2015: Help! Governor Akpabio Has Vowed To Kill Me After 7 Days – Senator Aloysius Etok

The battle for 2015 in Akwa Ibom has assumed a deadly dimension.
An Akwa Ibom state senator, Aloysius Eyok, has accused the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, of threatening to assassinate him within a week for daring to insist on retaining his senatorial seat which Mr. Akpabio has declared interest for in 2015.
The senator said at a news briefing weekend that Mr. Akpabio has unleashed his “hit squad” on him, with threatening text messages advising him to renounce his ambition for another term, or be targeted in seven days.

“I want the governor to tell Nigerians and the international community if there is anything wrong in any man aspiring to contest for an office,” Mr. Etok asked.“Is that enough for the governor to instruct the council chairmen to say that if I don’t withdraw from the contest, that they will recall me? He asked the state assembly to pass a resolution that they will recall me, to the extent that members of the House of Assembly came on television to insult and malign me.”

“Not only that, the governor has now loosen his hit squad, including what I have on this phone some text messages that if I don’t retract the statement that I will contest election, after seven days, I will see what they will do.”He said the governor also instructed “different groups that if I don’t retract the statement within seven days, I will either be dead to stop me or alive to retract the statement”.

Mr. Akpabio’s aides could not be reached for comments.Mr. Etok came to limelight some weeks ago after the embattled governor openly confessed to rigging party polls to allow Mr. Etok emerge winner for the senatorial seat, sparking national outrage.

Mr. Etok denied the claim, and said he emerged through a transparent process. In subsequent media interviews, Mr. Akpabio, claimed he was misquoted and that the media frenzy over the story, first published by PREMIUM TIMES, was politically motivated.
The governor later declared his interest to assume a senatorial seat after his term in 2015, a seat currently occupied by Mr. Etok, in what appears to be the actual motive for his video declaration.

Mr. Etok said while the controversy over the claimed rigging had been resolved, the governor repeatedly told fellow senators that they were his future colleagues; and on one occasion, he mockingly said Mr. Etok would serve as his campaign manager to the senate.
The senator said he only responded at an interview recently by saying the governor never consulted him on his ambition, and that he will never relinquish same.“The producer then asked what I want to do now that the Governor want to take my position. I told him that the Governor has not consulted me,” he said, referring to an interview he granted in Akwa Ibom state.

“However, if am sitting on a seat and somebody is coming to remove me without consultation, I will hold on to the seat even if the seat wants to break.”Since making the comments, a faction of the state House of Assembly has passed a resolution deriding Mr. Etok, and warning him that only an Akpabio candidature to the senate would be supported tin 2015.
“I want the Nigerian public to say which of these statement was an insult to the governor that he and his people said I have dared the governor for saying I will contest election,” the senator said.“That if what happened during my second term struggle that as soon as they knew I was going to contest, my wife was kidnapped.
After the release of my wife, my mother in law was kidnapped.“When she was released, she died because of the torture she received in the hands of the kidnappers. As a result of that my father-in-law died of heart break.

Therefore, I also want Nigerians to ask Governor Akpabio what I have done to him.”He said he was sending a petition to President Goodluck Jonathan, seeking his intervention.“That his hit squad,” referring to the governor, “which he has resurrected should let me live. If anything happens to me, I want the world to know that Governor Akpabio is after my life.”

UTME 2013: NSCDC Official Arrested For Allegedly Sending Answers To Candidates In The Exam Hall

UTME holds nationwide, records improvement

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board for universities polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education was held nationwide on Saturday with notable improvements this year, except for the few discrepancies in some centers.
There was a mild drama in one of the three centres (Faculty of Arts with centre No 36102) within the Lagos State University, Ojo. An official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, one of the paramilitary bodies deployed by JAMB to provide security for the examination, was caught while trying to send some answers to some supposed candidates in the examination halls through two cell phones.

A microchip with solutions to Mathematics (Type A), was also found on him. The NSCD officer who identified himself as Kazeem Adewale was caught by the men of the LASU security guards.

Adewale initially denied, claiming the phones and microchips were given to him by his boss another female office whom she simply identified as Adesanu. But Adesanu denied the claim outright saying she neither gave the phones, nor the microchips to Adewale.

The suspect was later handed over to the police deployed from Ojo for the exam.

The other two centres were- Faculty of Law with Centre No 36109 and Faculty of Management Sciences with Centre No 36010.

The coordinator of the three centres Prof Sena Bakre who spoke to this reporter, urged JAMB authorities to beam their searchlight more on NSCD officials, fingering them as one of the abettors of examination rackets which are often recorded during JAMB.

A Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) Bakre said she suspected Adewale’s atrocities probably had the backing of his other colleagues especially his superiors at the centres, adding that since he had been arrested, they became suspiciously more nervous.

Jim Iyke's (EX)Fiancee, Keturah Hamilton set to expose his "lies"-Claims reality show was acted

Keturah Hamilton talks about the Reality Show
Jim Iyke Unscripted

New York, NY April 29, 2013 – Keturah Hamilton, Model, Actress, and Ex-Fiancée of Jim Iyke is ready to tell the real story after the Jim Iyke Unscripted show that was aired on April 17, 2013.

In a world where reality shows are an “In-thing” and bad behavior becomes the A.M. topic to cover, leave it to Jim Iyke Unscripted or better said the “_Scripted_” show to deliver real life drama. The episode that aired on April 17, 2013, did not disappoint the viewers who were glued to their TV’s watching Keturah Hamilton’s role that was none the less excellent! She was really able to bring her character to the next level of entertainment.

Keturah Hamilton had acted out an edgy script of jealousy and rage towards Jim Iyke, that was delivered as well as any actress in Hollywood. Keturah was so good that even her fans were astonished to see how well she acted and was able to challenge Jim on his bad behavior. Boldly, Jim gave Keturah the opportunity to exit the reality show based on the controversial episode. Even though a pre-recorded version of “Kiss and Make-up” was on stand-by to be aired, Keturah already had made her decision.

For the time being, Jim Iyke and Keturah Hamilton are no longer together because in reality, Jim’s bad boy behavior was just too overwhelming for the reality star. Keturah has decided to move on to the bigger and better things that her heart has long been looking to do. She quotes, “I wish Jim well on his show and hope that he matures into the man I always wanted him to be!”

Keturah is currently in a new, reality-based show called “Diamonds in the Rough”. We will see more of Keturah Hamilton on the big screen and on other future projects on the works because as they say, “It’s not over until the fat lady sings!

(MUST READ) 1.2 Million UTME Candidates Won’t Gain Admission Into Varsities – FG

The Federal Government on Saturday said of the 1,735,720 students that registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, only 520,000 will gain admission.

Addressing journalists at the Federal Government College, Suleja, Niger State, after monitoring the examination, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, blamed this on the low-carrying capacity of the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

She said, “The major challenge is a country like Nigeria having 1.7 million sitting for examination. The space we have is 520,000 for federal, states, private universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

“If one million passed, what are we going to do with the rest 500,000? We will not expand the carrying capacity without expanding the facilities.

“What are we going to do with the large number of students out there? I feel the pain. Mr. President is very much concerned. If you have students that have passed examination and they cannot have access, you can imagine their thought in the long run.”

Rufai called on private firms and individuals to invest in tertiary education.

Responding to a question on the high fees charged by private universities, she said the legal department was looking into the ministry’s right to challenge the fees.

Although she agreed that private investors had the right to recoup their money, the minister said government would consider legal options to regulate the situation.

The minister also denied knowledge of any White Paper recommending the scrapping of the UTME and the National Examination Council.

She said, “It has become a very controversial issue. I have made a statement before the National Assembly that the Federal Government has a white paper on this. I’m not aware that NECO and JAMB will be scrapped. If we are not aware, what are we going to make an analysis out of? Government has not taken decision on that.”

Rufai further blamed improper shading of answer sheets by candidates for non-release of their results.
“If they don’t shade their papers correctly, they may not have results,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has arrested a middle-aged man who was identified as Isaac, for alleged impersonation at one of the Dual Based Test centres in Abuja.

The JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive. Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said the registration number on his slip and answer sheet did not tally.

“The owner of the slip is from Enugu. He came here to impersonate another person. He had been handed over to civil defence who will hand him over to the police,” he said.

Meanwhile, no fewer than nine candidates were feared dead, while six were injured in an auto crash on the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway on Friday.

The victims were said to be on their way to their examinations centre.

Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Aba.

He said seven persons including the driver died instantly, while two others died later in hospital.
Ogbonna said the candidates were travelling on a Hiace bus with number plate Rivers XY 249.

He explained that the driver, around 10.40am rammed into a truck with number plate Lagos XC 109 SLK, which was parked off the road at Obeaku-Ihie, Ugwunagbor Local Government Area of Abia State.

Scientists on brink of HIV cure

Danish scientists are expecting results that will show that “finding a mass-distributable and affordable cure to HIV is possible”.

They are conducting clinical trials to test a “novel strategy” in which the HIV virus is stripped from human DNA and destroyed permanently by the immune system.
The move would represent a dramatic step forward in the attempt to find a cure for the virus, which causes Aids.

The scientists are currently conducting human trials on their treatment, in the hope of proving that it is effective. It has already been found to work in laboratory tests.

The technique involves releasing the HIV virus from “reservoirs” it forms in DNA cells, bringing it to the surface of the cells. Once it comes to the surface, the body’s natural immune system can kill the virus through being boosted by a “vaccine”.

THOU SHALT NOT...

Don't say that you weren't warned! Nothing can kill a budding relationship faster than one of the seven dating mistakes below.

Woman on bad date

1RUSHING INTO SEX

There isn't a universal right time to become intimate with a new partner, however, if you have sex before a man has had a chance to get to know you, then you risk him placing you in the "fling" category and losing interest. A man has to invest and appreciate your other qualities beyond the physical for him to want to make you his girlfriend. So don't be afraid to take your time and make him wait until it feels right for you; the "three date rule" is a myth!

2

Would you make things "Facebook official" without running it by your significant other first?

OPENING UP TOO FAST

Likewise, it isn't smart to rush in and tell him all of your sad childhood stories. Although it's natural to want to speed up the bonding process, you have to pace the amount of information you share. You don't want to scare him offwith TMI or convince him that you're a high-drama mamma.

3CALLING/TEXTING/EMAILING TOO MUCH

While it's true that we live in an age of over-sharing, you'll just have to trust us on this one and play it cool. Men typically enjoy playing the role of the chaser, not the chasee, so constantly calling them can have the reverse effect of making them less interested, not more. So put down that phone, slowly back away from the computer, and let him sweat it out for a change.

4SPYING ON HIM

It may be tempting to take a quick peak at his Blackberry, but there's no faster way to inflame trust issues than to snoop.

5FAKING ORGASMS

Faking is a like a harmless, little white lie, right? No! In the long run, you are actually doing both of yourselves a huge disservice by allowing him to think that his moves are pleasing you when they really aren't. Besides, what if you marry him? Are you really going to keep up the Meg Ryan act into your old age?

6EXPECTING HIM TO CHANGE

People do not change very much as they get older, especially men. So if there are numerous things about him that you can't stand, then it might be wiser to just change to a different man.

7NEGLECTING YOURSELF

While it's important to nurture a budding relationship, sacrificing all of your energy and time to it and ignoring your own needs is a huge mistake. Whether you're in a relationship or not, you should always love and take care of yourself first.

SIMPLE WAYS TO KEEP YOUR SIGHT

While not all eye diseases can be prevented, you can take measures to reduce your risk of vision loss and improve your eye health. May is Healthy Vision Month and, through its EyeSmart campaign, the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends the following tips to safeguard your eyesight.

Woman with SunglassesMore than 20 million Americans currently suffer from severe vision loss, and many of them could have saved their eyesight by taking preventative measures and getting regular eye exams. "Proper care and caution is very important to prevent serious eye diseases and possible blindness," says Dr Marguerite McDonald, clinical correspondent for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Something as simple as wearing sunglasses or getting an annual eye exam can safeguard your vision and eye health.

10 Tips to avoid vision loss

1. Wear sunglasses

Wearing sunglasses that block 100 percent of ultraviolet (UV) rays can delay the development of cataracts by protecting your eyes from direct sunlight that can damage the retina. Sunglasses also protect the delicate eyelid skin and reduce your risk of wrinkles and skin cancer around the eye. (Sunglasses for fashionable eye and skin protection)

2. Don't smoke

Tobacco smoking is directly linked to many adverse health effects, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Studies show that current smokers and ex-smokers are more likely to develop AMD than people who have never smoked. Smokers are also at increased risk for developing cataracts. (More reasons to quit smoking)

3. Eat right

A vitamin or mineral deficiency can impair retinal function. The belief that eating carrots improves vision has some truth, but a variety of vegetables, especially leafy green ones, should be an important part of your diet. Researchers have found people on diets with higher levels of vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, zeaxanthin, omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are less likely to develop early and advanced AMD. (Improve your eyesight with antioxidants and omega-3s)

4. Get a baseline eye exam

Adults with no signs or risk factors for eye disease should get a baseline eye disease screening at age 40 (the age when early signs of disease and changes in vision may start to occur). Based on the results of the initial screening, an ophthalmologist will prescribe the necessary intervals for follow-up exams. If you have symptoms or a family history of eye disease, diabetes or high blood pressure, you should see an ophthalmologist to determine how frequently your eyes should be examined. (Learn more about other medical tests you need)

5. Wear eye protection

An estimated 2.5 million eye injuries occur in the US each year from sports, home repairs and other home projects. Many injuries can be avoided by simply wearing proper eye protection. Sports eye protection should meet the specific requirements of that sport; these requirements are usually established and certified by the sport's governing body and/or the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). For most repair projects and activities around the home, standard ANSI-approved protective eyewear is sufficient.

6. Know your family history

Many eye diseases cluster in families, so knowing your family's history of eye disease and discussing it with your ophthalmologist can reduce your risk of vision loss and other eye conditions. (Easy ways to organize your family's medical records)

7. Early intervention

Age-related eye diseases, including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and AMD are expected to dramatically increase from 28 million today to 43 million by the year 2020. Most serious eye conditions, such as glaucoma and AMD, are more easily and successfully treated if diagnosed and treated early. Left untreated, these diseases can cause serious vision loss and blindness. Regardless of your age, early intervention now will prevent vision loss later. (More tips to save your eyesight)

8. Know your eye care provider

When you go to get your eyes checked, there are a variety of eye care providers you might see. Ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians all play an important role in providing eye care services to consumers. However, each has a different level of training and expertise. Make sure you are seeing the right provider for your condition or treatment. Ophthalmologists are specially trained to provide the full spectrum of eye care, from prescribing glasses and contact lenses to complex and delicate eye surgery.

9. Follow your eye doctor's contact lens instructions

Follow your eye care provider's instructions regarding the care and use of your contact lenses. Abuse, such as sleeping in contacts that are not approved for overnight wear, using saliva or water as a wetting solution, using expired solutions, and using disposable contact lenses beyond their recommended wear can result in corneal ulcers, severe pain and even vision loss.

10. Be aware of eye fatigue

If your eyes are tired from working at a computer or doing close work, you can follow the 20-20-20 rule: Look up from your work every 20 minutes at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. If eye fatigue persists, it can be a sign of several different conditions, such as dry eye syndrome, presbyopia, or spectacles with lenses that are not properly centered. See an eye doctor to determine why you are having eye fatigue and to receive proper treatment. You can submit questions to an ophthalmologist or find ophthalmologists in your area by visiting GetEyeSmart.org.

CEO Ibari Ogwa Village, Mr Chukwudi Ofoha, Jay Jay Okocha and wife, Nkechi
Ex-soccer star, Austin Jay Jay Okocha is one man who believes that pleasure is good. He believes that it is the beginning of every choice and every aversion; and it is the absence of pain in the body and of troubles in the soul.

And that he portrayed last weekend, when he visited the popular Ibari Ogwa Village, the eastern heartland of Owerri.

The former Super Eagles’ skipper who visited the place with his elegant wife, Nkechi, also made known that the upscale bar having carved a niche for itself in the entertainment industry outward his interest to visit it on a surprised and unscheduled pleasure stay.

Felicitously, the Chief Executive Officer of Ibari Ogwa Village, Mr. Chukwudi Ofoha lavishly feted his customers, as he also showered encomium on the Ex-soccer star, saying he produced many spectacular displays on the pitch while playing as a footballer.

Embattled Lagos Speaker vows to probe Governor Fashola

With the collapse of his scheme to use Justice Okechukwu Okeke of the Federal High Court, Lagos to quash the money laundering charges filed against him by the EFCC, embattled Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Sabitun Ikuforiji returned from the court room today to the Alausa, Ikeja Assembly complex spitting fire and brimstone, with a threat to expose Governor Babatunde Fashola who he accused of being the mastermind of the criminal charges against him.

Four members of the Assembly who spoke to iReports-ng.com on the development today said the Speaker returned from the court disillusioned with anger all over his face. At the continuation of Ikuforiji’s trial today, the presiding judge, Justice Okeke, gave a brief, impromptu ruling, alleging “blackmail”. According to the judge: “This case has witnessed an unprecedented delay by the prosecution and tactics set by persons to blackmail this court. In the interest of justice, I’ll transfer the case to another judge and hearing notices will be issued at a later date. This matter is hereby adjourned sine dine.”

The EFCC had dragged the Speaker and his aide Oyebode Alade Atoyebi before the court over the allegation of accepting over N500million from the Assembly without passing through a financial institution. iReports-ng.com had in previous reports exposed the bribery scheme between Ikuforiji and Okeke who is retiring from the bench next month. The judge had through a proxy called iReports-ng.com to deny he ever collected bribe from the speaker.

The whole scheme however fell flat today when Okeke opted out of the case without being able to fulfil his initial commitment to Ikuforiji to quash the case. With this frustration, the speaker stormed the Assembly complex this afternoon and called all the standing committee chairmen to begin looking for evidences of corruption in ministries they oversee with a view to getting”some scoops to embarrass the governor.”

According to one of the lawmakers who spoke to iReports-ng.com, “the speaker complained bitterly that the governor is the one behind his ordeal by paying the media and the EFCC to be on his case. He complained that the governor has not deemed it fit to pay his legal fees since the criminal charges against him began. The speaker also said he will not go down alone because he is only being accused of stealing N500 million when the governor is stealing in billions. After raising all the dust, he went ahead to ask the committee chairmen to join him in the fight against Fashola by digging out dirts from the various ministries.”

Prisoner Impregnates Four Guards

Federal authorities have indicted multiple corrections officers and gang members at the Baltimore City Detention Center, alleging that the Black Guerilla Family gang had control of the facility. "This is my jail," suspected gang leader Tavon "Bulldog" White said on an intercepted phone call. "I'm dead serious... I make every final call in this jail... and nothing go past me, everything come to me."

Many details have started to emerge about White's reign over the jail, fellow inmates and (disturbingly) the guards. According to reports, White was sexually involved with a number of Baltimore's guards, but that's not all, four were allegedly pregnant by him, and two had his name tattooed on their bodies.

A cabal of corrupt corrections officers and members of the Black Guerrilla Family gang enjoyed nearly free rein inside the Baltimore City Detention Center, federal authorities allege, smuggling drugs and cellphones into the jail and having intimate relationships that left four guards pregnant.

An indictment unsealed Tuesday names 25 people — including 13 women working as corrections officers — who face racketeering and drug charges. Twenty of the accused also face money-laundering charges.

It alleges that Tavon White, an inmate known as "Bulldog," took control of the prison gang soon after his arrival in 2009 on an attempted-murder charge.

White appeared in Baltimore City Circuit Court Wednesday on that charge, hustled into a court room under heavy guard by state and federal officers. His case was postponed until this summer.

Creston P. Smith, White's attorney in the state case, said he knew nothing about the federal allegations.

But in the documents unsealed Tuesday, White is accused of building a network of corruption inside of the jail that both enabled a smuggling operation and allowed White to manage gang activity on the city streets.

Photos: Nigerian Girl Attempts To Kill Herself Because She Prefers To Die In Uk Than Come Back Home

Her name is May Brown, she is a 19 year old Nigerian who resides in the UK. UK Border Agency officials believe her marriage to a white man isn't real and so they want her deported. May didn't find that funny, and believe if she gets deported she would be killed in Nigeria. Instead, she decided to take her own life. Read her suicide note below.
Note: Thank God I have access to my blog now. It was hacked by people i don't know. But God being God, He got it back for me. Thank you all for the messages, never knew we were this loved. The Lord won't take away your joy from you, Amen.

In her suicide note, May wrote:

‘I am deeply sorry that I had to go this way, without even saying goodbye.
‘The UK immigration has finally driven me insane. They’ve pushed me too far this time and I can’t take the pain any more.
‘I don’t want a life or a future you won’t be part of. I love you so much, more than life itself and can’t endure the agony of not being with you.
‘Please forgive me for ending it this way. It’s better to die with my dignity than be subjected to torture and undignified death back in Nigeria.’
She said: ‘If they send me back to Nigeria they are signing my death warrant, they will cut my life short because I will be killed.
‘I have found peace with Michael, he gave me a reason to live. I have got a family here and we don’t claim any benefits.
‘Michael works and I am studying to become a barrister, we have not harmed anybody.’

May Brown is currently in a coma after attempting suicide. May who is a student of public affairs at Weymouth College moved to the UK three years ago.
She met her husband Michael Brown a year ago and they got married in December 2012. She applied for asylum in the UK. However, her request was denied. According to the UK Daily Mail – “Mr Brown, 34, said UK Border Agency officials believe their marriage to be a ‘sham’ with no ‘emotional attachment’.”
While May was due to be deported tomorrow, her husband and mother in-law insist that their marriage is real.

She was so distressed at the prospect of returning to her home country she took an overdose of medication.
In the report on May’s  ordeal via the Daily Mail, her mother in-law outlined reasons why May did not want to return to Nigeria.

Helen-Claire Brown, Ms Brown’s mother-in-law, said the 19-year-old is part of the family and blasted border officials as ‘heartless'

Proud Billionaire? South Korea Annoyed By Bill Gates’ Handshake With President

Microsoft founder Bill Gates’ casual style was the subject of criticism in some South Korean media on Tuesday after he shook hands with President Park Geun-Hye, with one hand in his pocket.
The picture of the meet-and-greet between Gates and Park on Monday was splashed on the front page of every national daily, some of which cropped out the offending pocketed hand while most chose to highlight it.
“Cultural difference, or an act of disrespect?” the JoongAng Ilbo wrote in the accompanying caption.
“Disrespectful handshake? Casual handshake?” the Dong-A Ilbo asked.

South Korea — a deeply hierarchical, Confucian society where etiquette has great significance — is particularly sensitive to any possible slight to its national pride.
While the presidential Blue House declined to comment, social networking sites were clogged with opinion.
“Even considering the cultural difference, there is an appropriate manner for certain occasions… how can he put his hand in his pocket when meeting a leader of the state?” tweeted @msryu67.
Some news portals posted montages of Gates shaking hands with other world leaders, which showed that he has some form when it comes to informal greetings.
In a 2008 meeting with Park’s predecessor Lee Myung-Bak, Gates also kept one hand pocketed, although a 2001 picture with then-president Kim Dae-Jung showed him adopting a more respectful, two-handed shake.
“Gates is a casual man who’s not bound by customs so he shakes hands in this manner even when meeting heads of international organisations or top political figures,” Dong-A Ilbo quoted an unnamed friend of his in Seoul as saying.
And some South Koreans suggested the media criticism was misplaced.
“Please, people… don’t think your Confucian mindset is a universal norm elsewhere in the world,” tweeted @itanomaly.
Gates was in South Korea as chairman of the nuclear start-up TerraPower, promoting its project to develop a next-generation nuclear reactor.
Park, meanwhile, was seeking the Microsoft founder’s advice on her plans to build a “creative economy” that moves beyond South Korea’s traditional manufacturing base.
