Runner, 78, who became the face of the Boston attacks escaped with only a scraped knee... and even managed to finish the race
The sight of Bill Iffrig falling to the floor has become one of the iconic images of the Boston Marathon attacks. Television viewers feared the worst when the 78-year-old from Lake Stevens, Washington, was caught on camera being knocked off his feet by the force of the blast just short of the finish line. Amazingly he escaped with a scraped knee and last night he revealed how his legs 'just started going like noodles' as he fell to the floor. Mr Iffrig said he knew the noise was a bomb, saying: 'It was only feet away from me... it was really loud.'
