Young sprinter beaten in robot race
Olympic sprinter Adam Gemili has been beaten by a robot in a man versus machine challenge sparked by a Twitter conversation.
Confused.com's new mascot, BRIAN the Robot, pipped Gemili to the post with a time of 10.1 seconds for the 100-metre sprint - compared to 10.2 seconds for the Enfield Harrier as the pair clashed at the sprinter's Lee Valley training facility.
Gemili, who is tipped for success as he flies the flag for Britain at next month's World Athletics Championships in Moscow and Rio 2016 Olympics, said: "I'd heard BRIAN was fast.
"So when he tweeted me to propose a race, I thought this could be fun - but also a great way to test myself as I embark on a really important and exciting summer sprinting for Great Britain. I hope I don't have to face robots in Rio."
Confused.com marketing director Joby Russell said: "Although Adam didn't take away the gold today, he certainly gave BRIAN a great race."
