MEND wants Okah brothers freed as condition for dialogue

Abuja - The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, has stated that Henry and Charles Okah must be released from detention as a condition for dialogue with the federal government, Premium Times reports.

The group said Henry Okah, a leader of the militant group, currently serving a 24-year term in South Africa, in connection with the 2010 Independence Day bombing in Abuja must be released alongside his brother, Charles also in detention over the attack.

As part of the conditions, it demanded the suspension of court proceedings, dropping of all charges, and presidential pardon to all its awaiting trial and convicted members.
