Katsina, June 2, 2015 (NAN) A 40-year-old farmer, Adamu Musa, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Katsina for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

Musa, who resides at Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina, appeared before Senior Magistrate Nafisa Bagiwa on a one-count charge of rape.

The police First Information Report (FIR) said that the accused committed the offence on May 5 at about 4.30 p.m.

The FIR said that one Ahmed Rufai reported at Dandume police station that the accused had committed the offence.

The complainant had told the police that the accused was caught red-handed making love to his daughter in an uncompleted building.

According to the FIR, the accused had committed an offence contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Insp Hashimu Musa, told the court that the matter was under investigation.

The court did not, however, take the plea of the accused.

The judge ordered the case file to be duplicated and forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

She ordered the accused to be remanded in prison while the case was adjourned to June 24 for continuation.(NAN)
