Impeachment threat: Fayose supporters resort to prayers, keep vigil

The impeachment threat against Gov Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State by the 19 APC lawmakers took a new dimension on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some supporters of the governor ignored the early morning downpour in Ado-Ekiti and positioned themselves at strategic locations leading to the premises of the state House of Assembly complex in a bid to protect their mandate.
While the men grouped themselves keeping vigil, the women went into prayers for peace to reign in the state.
Mrs Abigail Ojo, one the women who spoke to NAN, said: " We have decided to commit the situation to God Almighty, we pray He restores peace in our dear State.

"We are calling on all Ekiti sons and daughters to join us in prayer."

The supporters refused to leave the arena.

All the routes to the state secretariat, where the assembly complex is located, were blocked with lorries and luxury buses, to prevent the 19 APC lawmakers from coming into the hallowed chamber.

NAN reports that the ever busy State Secretariat road was desolate as the time of filing this report, a situation attributed to the threat issued by political thugs the state workers to vacate their offices.

However, the presence of security men around the state secretariat and the assembly complex as well as at strategic locations in the state capital was evident. (NAN)
