Unemployed man docked in Badagry over alleged theft of coke valued at N1,000

Badagry (Lagos State), June 5, 2015 (NAN) A 22-year-old unemployed, Stanley Amoebi, was on Friday charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a pack of coke valued at N1,000.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 1 at about 6.00 p.m. at Ajara Shopping Complex in Badagry.
Uko noted that the accused stole a pack of coke from the complainant, Mrs Senami Hungbo, at her shop.

``He went to the woman's shop to buy a pack of coke, but while the woman was looking for change for him, he quickly disappeared with another pack.
``The woman pursued him and with the help of people, he was apprehended.’’
Uko noted that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Yemi Fowler, pleaded with the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Further hearing in the case has been fixed for July 3
