22-year-old man remanded over alleged armed robbery in Ogun

Sango-Ota (Ogun), June 3, 2015 (NAN) An Ota Magistrates' Court in Ogun on Wednesday remanded a 22-year-old man, Dipo Jimoh, in prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is being tried for a two–count charge of armed robbery and conspiracy.

The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, ordered that the accused should be remanded in Oba Prisons in Abeokuta pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier, Sgt. Rosemary Brown, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on May 2 at 2.00 a.m. at Alhaja Kubirat Street, off Joju Road in Ota.

``The accused with others still at large, armed with dangerous weapons such as a gun and a cutlass, robbed one Mr Lawal Lateef of a Bajaj brand of motorcycle.’’

She said the accused also robbed Lateef of a Nokia phone valued at N155, 000.

Brown noted that the offences contravened Sections 403 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The case was adjourned to July 15. (NAN)
