Former Speaker urges newly inaugurated house to support Fayose

The immediate past Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Dele Olugbemi, on Friday urged the newly inaugurated legislators to support the administration of Gov. Ayo Fayose to bring about meaningful development.

Olugbemi gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti.

He urged the legislators to cooperate with the Executive to ensure the delivery of more dividends of democracy to the people.

The former speaker said meaningful development could only be achieved when there is cooperation among the three arms of government.

"I want to charge the newly inaugurated legislators that they must cooperation with the administration Gov. Fayose to bring about meaningful development.

"The leadership of the fifth Assembly must ensure a robust relationship between it and the executive and they must be 100 per cent loyal" Olugbemi advised.

Thanking God Almighty for a successful tenure, Olugbemi said, he was happy that the Assembly under his leadership stood its ground to resist the impeachment of the governor.

"As a member of the fourth assembly, I can say that we have done our best to legislate on laws that have brought about development in the state.

"Despite the turbulent period at the tail end of our tenure, the House under my leadership has been able to resist the impeachment threat issued by our colleagues from the APC.

"Am so delighted on our resolute to uphold the mandate freely given to Gov. Fayose by Ekiti masses on June 21, 2014," he said.

He, however, called on politicians to be weary of whatever decision they take at a particular time, saying history and posterity would always live after everybody

  1. There's nothing as good as solidarity. But the best can only come out when leaders have the interest of the masses at heart.
