Man, 19, defiles three-yr-old girl in Ekiti

A man, Usman Joshua, 19, has been arrested by the police in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl. (names withheld).

Joshua, who is a co-tenant with the toddler’s parents, was said to have lured her into his room with biscuit at about 5:05 pm on November 3, 2013.

Her mother, Wuraola, said she noticed that her daughter was not feeling comfortable when she returned to their apartment by evening of the said day.

A closer look by her mother showed that the little girl had been defiled. She told her mother that she was playing within the compound when Joshua told her to come for biscuit.

As a neighbour, the unsuspecting girl followed him into his apartment.

She said: “This man called me and asked me to come and collect biscuit in his room. He took off my dress after placing me on his laps. He took off his own clothes too and slept on top of me.”

In her account, Wuraola said: “ On November 3 at about 5:05pm, I saw my daughter outside with her pant almost falling off her waist. I rushed down to meet her and discovered that someone poured sperm all over her body. I asked where she was coming from and she said it was one daddy that took her to his room.

“She said that he slept on top of her after giving her some biscuits. She took me to the room where the man was. I called my landlady and we questioned him. He confessed to have committed the crime.”

She later reported the incident to the police.

Joshua in his own account said: “I am a co-tenant. The girl followed me inside my room and started playing with me. She climbed upon my chest and played with my private part.

“When I got an erection, I could no longer control myself. I removed her pant and inserted my penis in between her laps. I could not penetrate but I released sperm on her and let her go. That was my first time with her. I have never done such a thing with a girl of her age. I don’t know the kind of spirit that came over me”.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, Mr. Victor Babayemi (ASP), said: “Based on our investigation, Joshua had sex with the infant. He was aware of her age but took advantage of her.”

Now that's a Blue! Sexy scrums and cute catchers in the lineout as Oxford Uni women's rugby team strip off for calendar

  • Female team stripped down to just rugby boots and socks
  • Raising money for Mind Your Head, Oxford's mental health campaign
The autumn internationals have just finished, but rugby fans will be eagerly anticipating the first day of 2014 when they can place this calendar on their walls.

Oxford University women's rugby team are copying their male counterparts by posing for their own naked calendar - with only strategically positioned hands to maintain their modesty.

The female team stripped down to just their rugby boots and socks for the black and white photographs taken around the city to raise cash for charity.

The calendar is being sold for £10 to raise money for Mind Your Head, Oxford's mental health awareness campaign.

Tatiana Cutts, 25, who tackles team-mate Danielle Yardy, 23, by the river in the September photograph, said it was 'mostly hilarious, really very cold, and absolutely worth it for such a good cause'.

The law PhD student at Keble College, who lectures undergraduates part time and is the club captain, said: 'It was a bit nerve-racking at first but after a minute it was good fun and great for team bonding.

'We were lucky it was a sunny day, but I was still absolutely freezing in the picture. We ended up in the river twice, it was utterly miserable.'

Miss Cutts, who is from Tavistock, Devon, and went to Devonport High School for Girls, dismissed the idea that the calendar is distasteful. 'What we're doing is celebrating strong women,' she said. 'These girls are athletics, these are their body shapes, and they should be celebrated.'

The women's rugby team, who have the motto 'Back Yourself', decided to pose for their own calendar after previously helping to sell the men's calendar.

Club president Elizabeth Dubois, from Dartmouth, Canada, who is studying for a PhD in Information, Communication and the Social Sciences at Balliol, said: 'We saw the success of the men's calendar last year and while were helping to sell them at matches people said "if it was your team in the pictures, we would buy one".

'Playing rugby is certainly an opportunity to build skill and physical strength, but it is also a chance to release stress, form a social support structure, and feel welcomed.

'With this calendar the club hopes to highlight the inclusiveness of women's rugby.

'When you play women's rugby people have a stereotypical image of you and we wanted to confront that. We have girls of all shapes and sizes, and studying all types of academic subject.'

The calendar features current members of Oxford University Women's Rugby Football Club on the pitch, in the gym, in the library, and around Oxford.

Tiwa Savage’s husband, T-Billz destroys photographer’s camera at Sound Sultan’s birthday party

About a week ago, musician Sound Sultan celebrated his birthday by throwing a party that had his colleagues, friends and family members in attendance, however, Tiwa Savage’s husband, T-Billz created a scene by attacking one of the photographers at the event.

Tee Billz allegedly attacked the photo-journalist Victor Obot, for taking pictures against his will.

NET reports that “he snatched the camera in front of several witnesses and crashed it in on the floor damaging the lens and other accessories in the camera.”

Narrating his side of the story, Victor Obot also known as Elejo, said ‘I wasn’t even pointing the camera at him. The camera was directed at another guest who was sitting next to him, and then all of a sudden, he snatched my camera from me and smashed it.’

‘‘From what I gathered, T-Billz had warned Elejo (photo-journalist) not to take snapshots of him. Much later, I saw T-Billz grabbing the camera from him and then the camera fell on the floor in the process. Although I do not endorse T-Billz’s action, but I think the Elejo should have respected his wish and not try to take snap shots of him’’ Musician Azadus who witnessed the whole incident told NET

Reacting to the report however, Tee Billz denied destroying the camera, saying ‘It is not true. You can go ahead and cook up whatever story you like. It is not going to shake me in anyway”

Burna Boy banned from UK for 15 years

Sometimes, talents aren’t just enough.

Burna Boy is one of the most talented singers in Nigeria today but his “uncontrollable” character has cost a 15 years ban from the United Kingdom.

‘He can’t be told anything to do, he’s a big boy right now. He won’t just listen anymore, we are frustrated with his actions’.” his label mates told NET.

Burna boy who is presently having issues with his label, Aristokrat, has not only moved out of the house provided for him by the label in Lekki Phase 1 but he has also extricated himself from them and now handles his career with a former label employee who now only answers to him (Burna).

‘He wants to be in more control of his career’, they further told the online portal.

Well, Burn Boy’s ‘uncontrollable’ mannerism and persona didn’t just start yesterday; a few months ago he allegedly attacked and slapped a ticket attendant at the Silverbird cinema, Port Harcourt.

Also, a while in the UK back in 2010, he was arrested and sent to jail by London Police for allegedly being part of a gang and stabbing someone to death.

He was released after 11 months and given two months parole plus community service on the grounds of being of ‘good behaviour’, however, Burna allegedly disobeyed authorities and travelled back to Nigeria where he signed a record deal with Aristokrat.

While attempting to later travel back to the UK a while later, he was arrested at the airport and deported to Nigeria and barred from the UK for the next 15 years.

Man, 45, allegedly rapes 75-yr-old woman in Ekiti

ADO EKITI — A 45-year-old farmer, Lawrence Adedapo, is now in Police custody for allegedly forcibly having carnal knowledge of a 75-year-old woman, Grace Asaolu, at Ogbese Camp, Ise-Ekiti in Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Adedapo was said to have invited the septuagenarian to his house on November 7 this year under the pretex that he brought some plantain from his farm for sale.

The accused was said to have taken advantage of the old woman’s fragile nature, overpowering her before having carnal knowledge of her.

According to the victim, “Lawrence Adedapo is my neighbour. He invited me to come and collect plantain but instead he pushed me on his children’s bed and forcefully had carnal knowledge of me. I later rushed to the police station to report the matter.”

Upon interrogation, the suspect confirmed that he had carnal knowledge of the woman but denied forcing her, claiming that she was his mistress.

He said: “I knew her long time ago. I knew her as a widow from Moba Local Government Area of the state. We have known each other for the past 35 years and I have been dating her for long.

“The last time I had sex with her was in April during Easter before meeting her again on November 7. That was the second time we met this year. I did not force her into it and I had her consent before doing it”.

Asked why she reported the matter to the police, Adedapo said: “I promised to give her N2,000 which she asked for before we did it. But after the sex I was able to give her N1,000 only. That could be the reason why she alleged that I raped her. I later found out that she was bleeding as a result of the sex.

“I did not even ejaculate because I used my children’s room, so I had to rush.”

However, the police image maker in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, ASP, insisted that the investigation carried out by the police revealed that the old woman was actually raped by the suspect.

He said: “In the course of investigation, facts emerged that the suspect knew the victim to be of old age, 75, and in menopause.

“She could not have been bleeding without tampering with her organ. Medical report shows that there was a violent sexual assault on her; she was also said to be distressed with her genital smeared with fresh blood.

“It shows that he invited the woman with criminal intent to have intercourse with her.

Asari-Dokubo arrested in Benin Republic

Asari Dokubo
The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, was Tuesday arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

A statement by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, said Dokubo was picked up by the police between 1p.m. and 2p.m. around the Lubeleyi Roundabout, and taken to an unknown destination.

The wealthy former militant reportedly opened a private university in the Benin Republic, the King Amachree African University that is preparing to start degree-awarding programmes in 2014.

Keyamo said: “We want to emphasise that Alhaji Asari-Dokubo carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now.

“In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched and nothing incriminating was found.”

He suggested that Dokubo’s arrest and detention may be a ploy by “certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government” to keep his client away as 2015 approaches.

“We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls him and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria,” he added.

Dokubo has in recent times vowed that unless Mr. President Jonathan retains the presidency in 2015, Nigeria would break up.  Source from www.vanguardngr.com

“I feel so sad when they call me a Yoruba actress” – Ayo Mogaji

In a recent interview with a national newspaper, bilingual actress, Ayo Mogaji talked about her career and other sundry issues.

She said “I am an actress not a Yoruba actress. If you call yourself an actress, you should be able to interpret any role being given to you in as much as you understand the language. I will use the word Nollywood actress for me rather than being referred to as a Yoruba actress, because I do act both in the English and Yoruba industry. So, I feel so sad when you say Ayo Mogaji is a Yoruba actress”

See excerpts below:

What have you been up to lately?
My acting is still moving on. I am still the same old Ayo Mogaji. I am still working and not yet tired. After my movie “Jombo” in 2006, I have not produced any other movie. I have stopped producing because the market is not encouraging, so I am just a working actress. If you can pay for my job, I work with you. I just returned back to the country. I am moving in and out of Nigeria by virtue of marriage. My husband is British and it seems like everyone knows about that. He’s Dr. Ayodele Oduleye, a psychotherapist and British by birth. He lives there. I just came back from USA where I went to anchor a show.

You went off the scene at a time, why?
There was never a time I went off the scene. The only issue was I decided to limit some of my activities, because I can’t get lesser pay or do anything substandard. This is the only career I have got so if you are under paying me or not being reasonable with your offer, I move out of your job. I didn’t go anywhere; I was still in the country, I was still working. As we are talking right now, this year they have released several such as “Igba’bajo,” “Towotomo,” “Moberu,” Arinzo 1&2. Just at the tail end of last year, they released “Moberu.” While I was in the US, they released a couple of movies like “Mama Insurance.” So there has never been one time I rested on my oars. I also featured in soap operas like “Tarima.” I also used to do “Nowhere to be Found.” What I’m saying is that even when I am not in the country, you see me on your TV screen every now and then.

You’ve been around for many years. Do you have any plan to retire at all?
I love acting and this is the only thing I have done most of my life. I have been an actor even before home video came. People paid to see me perform on stage. We started on stage when the commercial viability of the acting business was not as it is now in Nigeria. Therefore, we had to do quite a lot of things to sustain ourselves. We were into radio; we were also into TV play. TV was very popular back then. I was on “Village Headmaster,” “Anter Theatre,” “Koko Close” and quite a number of other TV programmes. My major TV plays then were in “Koko Close,” “Village Headmaster” and “Den Set.” There were a lot of other series, which I acted in but I can’t remember them all anymore. We were not getting paid so much, but there was job satisfaction. We were quite happy with what we were doing. At that time, if you were a regular TV actor you were very lucky because some money would come out of it at the end of the month. So, without being immodest, I have been a household name before the advent of home video. So this is what I love. There is no age limit to acting.

You said marriage makes you travel more often now?
I am a house wife where I am coming from, and this is where my career is. Like I said, I don’t live in the US; I just try to shuffle both. If anyone needs me to do a job for them they pay for my ticket and all that comes with the job.

You play comical roles more often nowadays, why?
I play according to the character role I am given. There is a director that would tell you this is how he wants his script played like I did in “Igba’Bajo.” That was how they wanted their character to be played out. I want to believe that they specifically picked me for that character because they know I can give them what they want. My character in “Towotomo” and “Arinzo” was not comical though. There are several movies in which I didn’t act comical roles. I play my part according to what you want me to do.

Considering your status in the industry, how do you feel when you are being asked to act the role of a house maid?
I don’t have to play the lead role. If I act as a maid, that does not bother me, as long as I act my role and get my professional fee. I just believe most of them know that Ayo Mogaji would interpret the role given to her.

Most actors fight for the lead role. What do you have to say about that?
Well, I don’t know about them, I can only speak for myself.

Jonathan falls ill in London

ABUJA (AFP) – Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan received unplanned medical treatment in London on Thursday after he “became indisposed” and was forced to miss a scheduled meeting, his spokesman said.

“In the course of his ongoing visit to London for a meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International Investors’ Council, President Goodluck Jonathan became indisposed and could not be present at the opening of the meeting today,” said Reuben Abati.

“President Jonathan has since been examined by competent medical practitioners. He has been advised to rest for a few days.”

Abati added in an emailed statement that the president’s condition was “nothing serious and that the medical attention he has sought is only precautionary”.

Jonathan, who turned 56 on Wednesday, is not publicly known to be suffering from any serious medical conditions.

He assumed the presidency in 2010 following the death of his predecessor Musa Yar’Adua.

Yar’Adua’s protracted illness, details of which were kept from the public, sparked a months-long political crisis in Africa’s most populous country.

London police rescue three women held captive for 30 years

LONDON (AFP) – British police on Thursday rescued three women from a London home where they were believed held as slaves for at least 30 years by a couple who were arrested.

Officials identified the victims as a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 30-year-old Briton.

Police described the women as “highly traumatised”.

Detectives arrested a 67-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman at their home in south London.

Police swooped after being contacted last month by the Freedom Charity, which received a call from a woman stating she had been held against her will in a house in London for more than 30 years, Scotland Yard said.

Police said the woman had contacted the charity — which helps young people to understand forced marriage and honour-based violence — after seeing a TV documentary featuring the group’s work.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland, from Scotland Yard’s Human Trafficking Unit, said: “A television documentary on forced marriages relating to the work of Freedom Charity was the catalyst that prompted one of the victims to call for help and led to their rescue.”

Police inquiries established the location of the house and with the help of “sensitive negotiations” conducted by the charity, the three women were rescued.

“We applaud the actions of Freedom Charity and are working in partnership to support these victims who appear to have been held for over 30 years,” Hyland said.

“We have launched an extensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding these very serious allegations.”

Earlier this year, three women who were imprisoned in a house in Cleveland, Ohio, for more than a decade were freed.

Gunmen kidnap industrialist, Yinka Oba, kill driver in Ilesa

OSOGBO — An Ilesha based industrialist, Dr Olayinka Obaleye popularly known as Yinka Oba, was on Tuesday night kidnapped by yet-to-be identified gunmen at the front of her company, killing her driver on the spot.

It was gathered that the septuagenarian woman had finished the day’s work at her company at Ilo, Ijebu-Jesa Road in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State and was about leaving the premises when some fiercely-looking men of the underworld blocked her vehicle and whisked her away.

Obaleye, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Yinka Oba Foam Nigeria Limited, a family company that deals in production of foams was given a national honour by President Goodluck Jonathan last year.

Teacher beats 4-yr-old pupil to death for being stubborn -

AKURE — DETECTIVES in OndoState have detained a primary school teacher, Alade Adebayo, for allegedly flogging to death a four-year-old female pupil Elizabeth Wanogha.

The deceased pupil was a student of a private primary school, Falaye Memorial Nursery and Primary School, located at Fanibi area in Akure metropolis.

The teacher, according to report, accused the deceased of being stubborn in the class. He was said to have beaten the girl to a state of coma.

Cries from other pupils in the class reportedly attracted other teachers who rushed to the scene where they found that the girl had fainted.

She was said to have been rushed to a private hospital and was admitted but reportedly died later.

Police authorities, however, said that the pupil died two weeks after the beating by the suspect.

The father of the deceased, Mr Wanogha lodged a complaint at the Fanibi Police station, alleging that his daughter died as a result of the injuries sustained from the severe beating by her teacher.

Following the complaint, the teacher was arrested for interrogation.

Contacted, the Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, confirmed that the teacher had been arrested.

Ogodo however said that people should not jump into conclusion that it was the beating which took place about two weeks earlier that led to the death of the pupil.

He pointed out that the autopsy will determine the cause of the pupil’s death.

Ogodo said that the suspect is being quizzed at the state Criminal Investigative Department, SCID.

He explained further that the deceased was hospitalised immediately after the beating but died two weeks after.

Ogodo said that investigation into the death of the pupil continues adding that the findings would be made public.

The father of the deceased pupil insisted that the teacher should be prosecuted for murder.

Mr wanogho who lived at Adebowale street Fanibi vowed that the matter would be pursued to a logical conclusion to serve as deterrent to wicked teachers who vent their anger on innocent pupils put in their care.

He appealed to NGOs to take the matter up by ensuring that it was not swept under the carpet.

Sources within the unit told Saharareporters that Mr. Ibrahim was picked up today and is currently under detention at the offices of the agency.

According to one source, “We are investigating a case where Chief Ibrahim, defrauded the federal government to the tune of N6.8 billion.

He is in our custody, we take intend to take a statement from the suspect under caution”, he added.

One of our sources said Mr. Mr. Ibrahim have been evading agents of the unit for some time but disclosed that the eventually caught up with him in his hotel room in NICON Luxury Hotel where he was arrested this afternoon in Abuja.

Mr. Ibrahim emerged into national prominence under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he was frequently described as an insurance magnate after a questionable sale of the state owned NICON insurance company to Mr. Ibrahim.

He subsequently became a player in the media industry through the controversial purchase of Newswatch magazine and also as a proprietor of Air Nigeria. An airline closed down last year due to safety concerns and Ibrahim’s inability to meet financial obligations to staff, lessors and maintenance engineers and aircraft parts suppliers.

After Mr. Ibrahim’s purchase of Newswatch, the original directors, including Ray Ekpu, accused Mr. Ibrahim of hijacking Newswatch without meeting the terms of acquisition as a majority stakeholder.

His troubles in aviation sector came to light when one of his top level employee, John Nnorom turned into a whistleblower and disclosed to Saharareporters of the airline’s extensive violation of maintenance standards and financial fraud.

Also, Aersale an aircraft lease company sued him in New York court seeking a huge payment representing Air Nigeria unpaid obligations under the term of the lease.

“I never signed a contract with Donjazzy or Mavin” Wande Coal explains why he took Baby Face

Wande Coal has finally disclosed why he released the “baby face track” without getting any proper permission from Don Jazzy who claims to own the song.
When asked during an appearance on Vox Africa UK, about his reaction to Mavin’s press release terminating his contract with them, he said

“I mean everybody knows that I’m black Diamond. I’ve been with Don Jazzy for a while now so I just decided to do my own thing. There is no beef. I mean the song baby face was supposed to be on my album, but since we fell out, it was just there. It was void. I didn’t have no contract. I was just there helping. I was working on my album and its 95% there.”

Since there was no contract, no wonder Don jazzy couldn’t sue or use lawyers against Wande and that’s probably why he resorted to twitter.

We say good luck to both parties.

“I didn’t notice anyone was running after my car” Pasuma releases statement on alleged murder case

PASUMA
Reacting to the report, Pasuma released a press statement a few hours ago, narrating his side of the story.

The statement reads thus:
“On October 24th I had a show somewhere around idimu and as usual there were quite a lot of people there. After my performance I made for my car after settling the area boys with a large sum of money. Definitely, I had to zoom off because I didn’t want them to mob me. I left the venue and drove straight to my house. Later that night, I heard someone was killed at the show. I was surprised because people don’t fight at my shows. It was later explained to me that the young man was killed by policemen. I tried to get details of the incident and that was when I gathered that one of the boys hung on to my car before I drove off.

He was said to have fallen off and started running after my car for reasons I don’t know. I didn’t even notice anyone was running after my car. Simultaneously, the policemen were driving fast behind me to get more money from me and in the process the boy was knocked down by their vehicle. When the policemen caught up with me, I gave them Money and they turned back. As at that time I was not even aware something had happened and I drove off. Later that night, I was informed that a boy was killed by the policemen and my manager Afolabi Oyekoya has been trying to get in touch with the deceased family. If those that reported the incident, did actually visit the police station or hospital the boy was taken to, they would have found out the truth. The question is ,Did my car hit the boy? Did my car have any contact with the boy ? Was I even aware of anything ?

The policemen were said to have taken the boy to the hospital or their station and had communicated with the family. It was reported that the policemen were part of my convoy but the truth is they were never part of my convoy. I didn’t go to the show with any security except my bodyguards. I feel comfortable around area boys or whatsoever you choose to call them, I have no reason to move around with policemen. I didn’t hit anyone with my car, neither did any of my convoy . Where is the story coming from. I didn’t want to make any press statement but have been forced to because it is obvious some bloggers are trying to make a mess of my name. Do we now live in a country where people believe they can just write something about you and get away with it. Hmmm !

If I was truly involved in a murder case I would have been invited to the police station for questioning . Have I been asked to write a report at the police station? Have I been arrested ? We are talking about someone’s life here? My management AO21 Media have been making efforts to reach the family of the deceased not because we were involved in his death but because he was a fan of Pasuma wonder
